Cat’s Cradle, Carrboro, NC 1-18-16 w Rockett Queen
Scott Stapp fans weren’t sure what to expect when they arrived at the famed Cat’s Cradle for his return tour. The huge bus, bustling crew, and sound check echoes seemed familiar enough. Media had made no secret about the Creed vocalist’s struggles and public breakdown last year. Scott and Jacklyn appeared on VH1’s Couples Therapy, sharing challenges in painful detail. Their stories of restoration were inspiring at worst. Even Scott’s critics reported his remarkable recovery, yet only ‘One’ thing would allow his music lovers to fully exhale…
Smiles and high tens coated the venue well before music; excitement and hope took charge. The wait was almost over when Texas-based Rockett Queen launched, receiving an electric Southern welcome as they opened to deliver a solid, energetic rock set. The new band in town took no prisoners yet captured many new Carolina fans! Everyone wanted more.
At this point anticipation was squeezable! When Scott and his band hit the stage, the house ERUPTED! Starting with the powerful Creed hit, ‘Bullets’ and closing with ‘Higher’, the performance immediately resolved all concern and became an epic live music experience. Cleanly played, tightly delivered, intense, crushing riffs delighted the super-pumped crowd. Security was singing too!
A die hard music family roared to witness a strong, healthy artist in easy control of his amazing vocals. The singer’s new band dialed in, surpassing expectations to nail inspiring Proof of Life tracks and Creed gems alike. Audience reactions were clear and poignant, throwing love back to every note, lyric, and fist pump. Scott’s humble band connected with Carolina fans like old pals. Without a barricade, the musicians slapped hands throughout the show for serious bonus points! Scott’s vocal performance was simply superb and left no doubt that he’s here to stay. Fans played their part, moving those with disabilities to the front row and protecting unity for the duration. On a 14 degree evening, complete strangers warmed the spirits and rocked the worlds of lucky concert goers!
The encore was inevitable, but Scott paused to share some news. The Stapps are sponsoring a village in the Philippines this year, and handed out info on 200 children living there who need help. Scott offered a SIGNED copy of the newly released Creed Retrospective album to those who could help. Many received their packets directly from Scott on stage. Details at shows!
The house reignited for an incredible One Last Breath and My Sacrifice finale, leaving fans ecstatic, thankful, relieved, unified, proud, melted, and begging for MORE! (See VIDEOS)
